ReachElite High Output vs. High Punch. What's the difference?

Although ReachElite High Punch and High Output have much in common (form factors, reliability, and accessories) they are built for very different applications.

ReachElite High Output with its 500 mid-powered LEDs and native 20° beam is built for maximum lumens, and close mixing distance is perfect for flood lighting and wall washing.

ReachElite High Punch with its 36 high-powered LEDs and native 3° beam delivering lumens at distance, is great for grazing and spotlighting, illuminating the tallest structures.

Both can be used in the same installation and often are along with many other Color Kinetics luminaires. And our IntelliHue technology enables consistency in color mixing, giving you high-quality whites, pastels, and fully saturated colors throughout the installation.

Far More Than a Power Supply.

Data Enabler Pro delivers integrated data and power to Color Kinetics Powercore luminaires and works with either DMX or Ethernet control. And it's been on the job for over ten years now.

Far more than just a power supply, DE Pro makes quick work of connecting power AND data out to your luminaires.

Clearly labeled terminal block connectors for DMX or Ethernet. Simple line voltage in and power plus data out make for quick connections.

Simple test button confirms the luminaires are getting power and data even when the controller isn't connected quite yet. And an IP66 tethered cover with captive screws because no one needs a missing cover two stories up in a bucket truck.

Can You Help?

7-year-old Graze installation with a luminaire out.

Yes, unusual...and yes, we can!

When addressing a luminaire, it's DMX address and other installation details stay on the luminaire not the Data Enabler Pro. So, in the unusual event of a failure, you can download those addressing details to a new replacement in the shop before you venture out to the job site. Switch out the luminaire, and you are up and running quickly without on-site commissioning.

2 Great Keypads.

Antumbra Keypads have been a staple in the Color Kinetics lineup for years.

Beautifully manufactured by our sister company Dynalite in Australia these keypads can be designed with a wide range of colors, finishes, custom button icons, even proximity glowing effects! The options are endless!

So, here's the secret and a tip, the Antumbra Keypads form-factor may look identical but if the name on the back of the keypad includes "iColor" it's a controller. If the name contains "Ethernet" it triggers light shows from an iPlayer 4.

Antumbra iColor Keypads are stand-alone lighting controllers with configuration software that allows you to adjust the color, speed, and brightness of various lighting effects and then set them to one of six buttons, allowing simple luminaire control. And Antumbra Ethernet Keypads can trigger up to six light shows from an iPlayer 4 to the luminaires. Simple, beautiful, keypads with a powerful difference.

Brrrr, It's Chilly Out There Today.

Extreme weather like freezing rain, heat and snow are exactly why we put our luminaires, controllers and power data supplies to the test before you put them in the field. Excessive heat causes thermal stress to LEDs and luminaires in general, part of why most ColorKinetics exterior luminaires are rated to operate in temps you don't want to be out in (-40 to 50 °C, -40 to 122 °F).

Outdoor, Indoors.

Sometimes the best indoor luminaire is one built for the outdoors.

The job was a triangular shaped 8-story hotel lobby with wrap around balconies, 2 elevators anchoring the corners and plants displayed in the middle of the bottom floor. The owner wanted colorful light to flood the space while also remaining tasteful. You show the owner Blast IntelliHue. He loves how its bright illumination grazes up the corners to the ceiling but wants more. You bring in ReachElite IntellHue 100 with 3x the output. The impact is just what he imagined, but there is a problem.

They have an automatic watering system for the plants, so what if the luminaires get wet?

Not to worry! The IP66 rated ReachElite or Blast are built to get the job done, no matter what environment they're in.

Out-of-the-mounting-cover thinking.

At Color Kinetics we understand thinking out of the box...or out of the mounting cover, if you want to get technical.

Blast and Burst (architectural) luminaires (as seen in the photo) both have a 6 ft double jacketed whip that is wired through the heavy-duty cast aluminum mounting cover. Compression fittings and a cable lock are added to help meet some of the most stringent corrosion resistance, vibration, and mechanical impact ratings in the industry!

But sometimes the job requires some out-of-the-mounting-cover thinking. If this happens to you, no worries at all, check out the Installation Instructions (in the box or at www.colorkinetics.com) for the 411 on how to do that!

These heavy duty constant-torque hinges with built-in set screws (so you can lock in the perfect angle) are designed for the same long-term exterior installations Color Kinetics is known for.

Gore Vents.

Did you know most Color Kinetics IP66 outdoor-rated products are equipped with gore vents?

Gore Vents are semi-permeable venting membranes that allow the interior of the sealed housing to atmospherically equalize with the outside environment. This limits internal condensation and the potential for corrosion or component deformation while increasing reliability for projects much like this one!

Also, a little tip, these vents should never be removed, punctured, blocked during installation or allowed to fill with debris!

Thermal Protection.

Happy Tech Tuesday. The series where we uncover our latest innovations for your inspiration!

As many of us are experiencing warmer months, it is becoming increasingly important to protect your beautiful lighting displays. This week we’d like to showcase our heat lifesaver: Thermal Protection technology! This technology prevents overheating in extreme temperatures, preserving luminaires and preventing failure.

Color Kinetics luminaires offer Overheat Protection and Thermal Management.

- Overheat Protection: interrupts ALL incoming light data when a luminaire gets too hot causing the luminaires to glow faintly.

- Thermal Management: scales down incoming light data to preventing overheating. If the luminaire is still too hot, Overheat Protection is triggered.

Once the luminaire temperature returns to a safe range it will automatically return to normal operation!
